• Ready-to-go emulsion. Dilute PMF with water to achieve the viscosity you desire, usually 1 part PMF to 2 parts water. Paint the emulsion on a surface such as paper. Let it dry in the dark, then expose with UV light with a negative or light-blocking object. The unexposed areas will wash out during development in tap water, and the exposed areas will create the image. The process is very similar to gum printing.
• Non-toxic. Unlike traditional gum printing, PrintMaker's Friend does not require the use of a sensitizer like potassium dichromate. It is pre-sensitized and approved non-toxic by the Arts and Creative Materials Institute. Safe for use in schools.
• 10x more sensitive than gum and dichromate. Exposure units for gum printing can be very expensive because a lot of UV light is needed, but for PrintMaker's Friend a cheap 50w exposure unit for $20 is enough for prints up to 11x14.
• Abrasion resistant. It's often difficult to get vibrant colors in traditional gum printing because brushing erodes the lower layers. With PrintMaker's Friend, this is not a problem, which makes it easier to produce rich colors.
• Extremely lightfast pigments. All pigments having a rating of 7 or 8 on the blue wool scale, so you can be sure your prints will last for 100+ years.
• Good Value. This kit contains eight 500g bottles of Printmaker s Friend. That's over a gallon of emulsion, which will produce about 100-200 8 10 prints.
