Features
- This kit contains everything you need to prepare a cabinet scraper to make shavings (less scrapers and burnisher). This kit allows you to prepare a cabinet scraper in less time, with less fuss, with less mess and with less expense than any other method.
- The kit contains the following:
- All the hardware (2 each 1/4-20 x 2 carriage bolts, 2 each 1/4 washers and 2 each 1/4-20 wing nuts) needed to make a twin jaw scraper vise used to clamp a scraper while filing and honing keeping the edge 90 degrees relative to the faces.
- 4 each 6mm x 8mm rare earth magnets used to make a small inch x 6-inch wood magnetic scraper handle used to stick to the face of a scraper and apply consistent downward pressure to the edge of scraper faces when honing and polishing.
- 2 each thin and flexible (0.020 x .5) spring steel strips to assist with quickly setting the protrusion of cabinet scrapers from the edge of the twin jaw scraper vise while filing/honing and polishing the faces. Setting this precise 0.020 distance ensures the edge will be 90 degrees to the face. One steel strip is also used during the final honing of the faces using the ruler trick .
- 8 single cut mill file used to remove the factory mill marks on the scraper edge and establish a square and straight edge ready for honing.
- Two half sheets (4-1/4 x 11) 80-micron PSA lapping film that is affixed to one side of the included float glass used to lap and remove the file marks on the edge prior to honing.
- Two half sheets (4-1/4 x 11) 40-micron PSA lapping film affixed to the other side of the included float glass to remove the scratch marks on left from the 80-micron film to complete the final polishing and prepare the edge for turning the burrs/hooks.
- One sheet 5/16 thick by 5-1/2 wide x 11 long dead flat float glass that accepts the lapping. A non-slip pad is included to prevent the glass from sliding on your bench.
- Cabinet scrapers and burnishers are NOT included.
